Introduction
Hey everyone! Today, we’re diving into an exciting new mod for the VB WRX – the OEM exhaust finisher for a single exit exhaust. If you’ve been following my journey, this is your first time seeing me in action. I managed to snag this part at a steal and couldn’t wait to share the process with you.
Why I Chose the OEM Exhaust Finisher
When it comes to car mods, quality matters. I opted for the OEM exhaust finisher because I wanted a durable metal finish instead of a cheap plastic one. The kit comes with two pieces, but for this mod, I only need one. If you’re interested in the other piece, feel free to reach out!
Unboxing and Preparation
The exhaust finisher comes with all the necessary hardware. Before we start the installation, let’s take a closer look at the parts and get everything ready.
Removing the Old Exhaust Finisher
To remove the old finisher, you’ll need to pop off the clips. I initially tried using a knife, but quickly switched to a flathead screwdriver for a safer and more efficient approach. Be careful with those clips, especially if they’ve aged in the heat like mine had.
Installing the New Exhaust Finisher
For the installation, I used a combination of Allen wrenches and pliers to secure the screws. Here’s a quick rundown of the process:
- Remove Clips: Use a flathead screwdriver to pop off the clips holding the old finisher.
- Align the New Finisher: Make sure it’s flush and secure before drilling.
- Secure with Screws: I used five screws, applying pressure with a wrench and pliers for a snug fit.
- Apply Adhesive Tape: The finisher comes with 3M adhesive tape. Remove the tape backing and press the finisher into place.
Final Touches
Once installed, the finisher should click into place with the pressure clips. Reinsert the push pins to secure it further. After installation, I used P&S Car Wash solution to clean the finisher and surrounding areas, ensuring everything looks pristine.
The Result
The new exhaust finisher looks fantastic! It gives the VB WRX a sleek, polished look that stands out.
Additional Mod: Debadging
I might also remove some of the badging on the car for a cleaner look. Stay tuned for that update!
Conclusion
I’m thrilled with how this mod turned out. The OEM exhaust finisher not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also ensures durability and quality. If you have any questions or want to share your own mod experiences, drop a comment below!
